Hi! I'm Pranav
I am a Robotics engineering student at the University of Bath (UK). I would describe my self as a smart, resilient, hard-working person who doesn’t crack under pressure and is always ready to learn. I am mostly focused on software, particularly AI, ML and data science, although I have a strong appreciation for electrical and mechanical hardware.
Hi!
Where do I see myself in the near future?
The applications of artificial intelligence in modern life are boundless and the use of big data is time and time again providing insights that were never possible. For example, understanding the transmissibility of the COVID-19 virus and producing effective therapeutics and vaccines were greatly aided by the remarkable ability of machine learning (ML) models to classify huge data sets and help scientists identify patterns and develop solutions. In my own work during my internship at Siemens Healthineers, I have been building and training an ML model to classify vibration data on a critical piece of equipment. My goal is to be able to further my knowledge in this field by completing a Msc in computer science after I graduate from the University of Bath with a Beng in Robotics. Furthermore, I am particularly interested in the applications of AI in healthcare and the use of quantitative analysis in the financial sector.
What makes me tick?
I have played division 1 American football, completed my bronze, silver and gold DofE awards and have several hours of flight time in small aircraft. Outside of engineering and science, the great outdoors is close to my heart, and I love to explore and go on adventures out in the country. I am a big travel fan and aim to sail to all corners of the Earth.
In terms of extracurricular projects, I have dabbled in areas such as crypto currencies, technology in healthcare, financial analysis and front-end development. (I have blog posts coming soon for all of these!). I also have a strong understanding of flight mechanics and drone electronics as I have been designing, building and flying drones for several years now.
Check out my projects to see what I love doing and to get a better understanding of my skillset!
What is my ideal work environment?
My dreams might be a bit too big for my own good, but nevertheless I am relentless in pursuing my interests and building my skills and I will always strive to be the best engineer and individual that I can be. I find the most satisfaction when I see that my work is useful and that it contributes to scientific understanding. I am a perfectionist who thrives in the details; however, I am not afraid to take a step back and visualise the bigger picture. Therefore, I would say that my biggest strength lies in my creativity and ability to think of fresh ideas on the spot. Hence, my ideal workplace would be one where I am given responsibility and am trusted to deliver. Furthermore, being able to apply my knowledge in a meaningful fashion whilst also learning new skills and building a strong network are priceless to me.
